Implementing the Climate Agenda in Metropolitan Areas

In the context of the growing impact of climate change across the globe, the overall objective of the ERASMUS+ project CLI-MET is creating awareness, competences and skills to empower metropolitan authorities in the implementation of the environmental agenda in city-regions. The project is designed to create an international community of learners – including university students, public officers and practitioners – through teaching programmes, research activities, events and digital dissemination tools.

Partners are University of Palermo (lead), Madrid polytechnic university, Cittá Metropolitana Milano, City of Izmir, METREX.

Activities

The project activities include:
• organization of 3 International Intensive Programmes, hosted by the HEIs;
• organization of 2 Workshops with Stakeholders (hosted by Metropolitan authorities);
• implementation of a Digital Academy to disseminate teaching contents to a wider audience;
• scientific report with case studies;
• publishing an open access Handbook providing guidelines to address climate change in city-regions;
• organization of technical/scientific events open to the public.

Impacts

The above-mentioned activities will result in a series of tangible results and intangible outcomes. Among these there are at least 90 students trained in the Intensive Programmes, 10 case studies that are part of the Handbook, public events with the involvement of around 250 participants. Beside that, the Digital Academy is conceived as a knowledge infrastructure to secure the dissemination of CLI-MET contents to a wider public with the target of at least 250 users registered to the platform.
