Podcast mobiliTALK "How can the transport transition in municipalities succeed?"
- Publication
When it comes to designing safe, efficient and climate-friendly mobility, municipalities play a decisive role: they plan public transport, take care of the expansion and construction of cycle paths and footpaths and deal with parking space management. In doing so, they have to take into account the different interests of residents, commuters and retailers - and at the same time focus on climate protection. Theo Jansen, former head of Zukunftsnetz Mobilität NRW, Dr. Patricia Feiertag, research assistant at TU Dortmund University, and Claudia Wieja, Mayor of Lohmar, will discuss the options for action in this area of conflict.
The guests on the mobiliTALK episode also talk about these questions, among others:
- What incentive is there, especially for cities and municipalities, to advance the transportation turnaround?
- Are there differences in municipal mobility management between urban and rural regions?
- How much influence or decision-making power do local authorities have in transport planning?
- What challenges do municipalities face in the climate-friendly transformation of transportation?"
